Your Gallbladder Attack Toolkit
Before you panic the next time you feel a gallbladder attack coming on, please remember this one thing- what you do immediately when you feel gallbladder pain and post-attack can help reduce the frequency and intensity of the attack.
(In most cases, there are exceptions- see below)
In my opinion, I think it’s so important to have a “toolkit” in place. That way when you feel an attack starting you have everything in place and don’t need to think too much about what you need to do.
While you may think about reaching for pain medication, there are so many other natural remedies that can drastically improve and help with the pain (believe me I get how painful and uncomfortable it can feel).
Here are some things that I tell my clients to have in their “toolkit” and what I have personally used.
Gallbladder Attack Toolkit
Immediately when you feel gallbladder pain I recommend grabbing your gallbladder attack toolkit. This includes:
Gallbladder Attack Cocktail: You have options! Try these out and see what you like the best and what works for you: Choose from:
Strong lemon water
Two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in water
Magnesium calm in water
Super phosphozyme liquid
Traditional flaxseed tea
Homeopathy Gallbladder Drops
Jarrow Bile Acid Factors
Don’t try these all at once though! Choose just one at a time to test what provides relief.
Heat Therapy: Try to lay down for a bit and place some heat on your upper right abdomen. The heat from a heating pad or other source can help to ease some of the pain.
Nervous System Support: When you feel an attack coming on it’s normal to feel anxious and work yourself up because you know all too well the amount of pain you’re going to experience. It might sound silly but working on your nervous system can help ease the attack. Try out some deep breathing, affirmations, gallbladder stretches, or even acupressure. Here are some of my favorites that I’ve used and recommended before:
GALLBLADDER MERIDIAN | 10 Minute Daily Routines
Breathing Technique to Relax: Belly Breathing Exercise with Dora Kamau
Hydration: Water is key to helping your body move through the gallbladder attack and recover post-attack. Try adding some electrolytes or mineral salt to your water and drink up as much as you can!
Rest: I know this can be difficult especially when an attack comes on suddenly but try to lay down. Try to recognize and understand that your body needs rest to recover, and pushing yourself through it is only going to make it worse. Take this time to relax and nurture your body and ask for help when you need it.
Post Gallbladder Attack Plan
Once you’ve made it through the attack it’s equally as important that you take steps to reduce the risk of back-to-back attacks.
Post-attack care includes focusing on rest, hydration, and making sure that you are eating for recovery.
Specifically make sure to keep up with the gallbladder cocktails, magnesium, avoiding triggering foods, and maintaining fiber. This also means temporarily eating a low-fat diet with lots of dark leafy greens, berries, vitamin-rich foods, and beets.
In my Post Gallbladder Attack meal plan, I provide a two-week meal plan and recovery plan intended to reduce biliary inflammation and back-to-back attacks.

Please note this is not medical advice. This is personal advice that has helped me and many others reduce gallbladder attacks and pain. In the event your attack is severe, lasts longer than 12 hours, jaundice, vomiting, fever, it is important you go to urgent care for further evaluation.
I hope that this helps you the next time you feel an attack coming on. I’d love to support you on your gallbladder journey further. If you have gallstones, sludge, or biliary dyskinesia, I invite you to learn more gallbladder tips to save your gallbladder in the Gallbladder Saver Society membership.
The Gallbladder Saver Society membership was created to help you establish a stress-free gallbladder diet, reduce attacks and gallbladder symptoms, and ultimately work on the cause of your gallstones, sludge, or poor function so you can save your gallbladder.
